Tools for generating flow matrix

Hi Guys, 

we are building a big network. and we have an Excel flow matrix that we have to keep updated. Today, the Excel flow matrix is becoming huge and laborious to keep it updated.

Do you guys use a handy tool (app or else) to generate your flow matrix ?

Can you please advice me ?

I would think MS Visio is a good bet.  These can be very detailed and provide just a basic general flow chart.

do you think, from the visio schemes  i can extract tabs that mention source, destination, protocole ?
