Hi Nazir,

Refer the below link  for the upgrade from the exiting version ::

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/net_mgmt/prime/infrastructure/2-2/quickstart/guide/cpi_qsg.html#pgfId-113783

Follow the same steps :

Step :Backup  on 2.1

Step 2: Restore  2.2

Backup and Restore::

Backup command::

PIServer/admin# backup MyBackupFileName repository MyRepo application NCS

Check the below link for

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/net_mgmt/prime/infrastructure/2-1/administrator/guide/PIAdminBook/backup_restore.html#pgfId-1080733

Step ::

Once Backup is completed , you need to Restore the backup to the Newly Buid PI 2.2 server::

Restore command:

PIServer/admin# restore filename repository repositoryName application NCS

Check the below link:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/net_mgmt/prime/infrastructure/2-1/administrator/guide/PIAdminBook/backup_restore.html#99810

Hi AFROJ,

could you pls tell me what actually the prerequisites of the PI 2.2 ..because i'm upgrade from exisiting PI appliance, now this a 3rd time i repeat the installation process to make sure everything ok.

thanks. :(

Hope you are instantiating  PI 2.2 on a new physical box and then you will be restoring the backup of PI 2.1

or you are doing it on the same machine where you were running PI 2.1 ?

Yes i'm doing it on the same box were running PI 2.1

Hi Nazir,

****You will require dual layer DVD to write the image for your physical appliance *** Hope you are using that ?

****check  and verify  "checksum" value of the downloaded file from cisco ***

One more suggestion::

During the installation use " install through console"

Hi, still in progress...take so long ..

DO NOT press ^C while the restoration is in progress
Aborting restore with a ^C may leave the system in a unrecoverable state

still ..waiting ..hope everything fine

Can anybody give me the estimation hours,how long it will be take to restore all the data.  ...mybackup repo is about 8gb

thanks.

My experience with a 2 GB backup was that took about 1-1/2 hours to restore. However that was on a VM, not the hardware appliance.

If appears your system may be hanging up on some issue since it's well over 12 hours.

Since you're upgrading, you must have a support contract. I'd suggest calling the TAC and opening a case. They can debug by looking at the system log files in the Linux OS.

I just want to add my experience here. It can take a very long time.

Backup restore from:   2.1.0.0.87 to 2.2.0.158

VM size:   "standard"

DB Size :   3.2G

VMNMS01/admin# restore DB_EXPORT-2.1.0.0.87-to-2.2.0.0.158-ONLY_NCS-160113-1047.tar.gpg repository primeupdate application NCS

* NOTE *
If the system console is disconnected or got cleared on session timeout
run 'show restore log' to see the output of the last restore session.

Restore will restart the application services. Continue? (yes/no) [yes] ? yes

DO NOT press ^C while the restoration is in progress
Aborting restore with a ^C may leave the system in a unrecoverable state
