What syslog or SNMP options are available to bring notice when a Cat6K (CatOS 8.4) fails over to the standby supervisor? I'm specifically thinking of the "set snmp trap enable **********" and "set logging level *********" commands.

I would try set snmp trap enable entityfru
This should give a cefcModuleStatusChange trap
you could also look at the syslog message type %SNMP-5-MODULETRAP
