Hi all,
Just checking if any of you have run into this before. We have this ASA 5510 that even if we upload the image from ROMMON, it doesnt find it after a reboot.
After upload the image we can see it on the flash memory but after reboot the ASA fails to find it or find the configuration file.
See below:

And then it just sits there and keeps rebooting.
We even tried swapping the flash card for another one we have on a good working ASA. Same results.
I'd like to know if you've seen this before going for the RMA.
Thanks!

Como decimos aca, di mae, dele viaje... Couple of days ago I found a case and that was the resolution (RMA), the only difference is that on that particular case there was a crash file that stated the HW failure....
RMA would be the next step.

BTW the Image that we uploaded and the image that we used for the boot system, match (meaning they are the same, unlike shown on the output). The output I pasted above was just to ilustrate what we are doing. Thx.

Luis,
Once the device boots up, what is the confi-register value?
Mike
09-06-2011 02:20 PM
0x1, I cant remember what the right value should be, but I thought the confreg affected only the config file, not the image itself. Thanks Mike.

Hi Luis,
One last card, on rommon can you try to boot the image directly?
rommon #0> boot asa824-k8.bin
And see if it works?
Mike
09-06-2011 02:42 PM
That would be instead of trying to upload it from the TFTP server right?
09-06-2011 02:49 PM
Yup, we know the image is on flash... so try to boot it up from rommon...
09-06-2011 02:54 PM
Ok I'll give it a try and get back to you.
Thx!

hey Mike ... como dicen estos maes "tried that ... no dice..." LOL ...
I guess we'll have to RMA it ... It still says:
Error 15: File not found
unable to boot an image
Thanks for your help.
