ASA_Static_NAT

Hello,

I'm working with the 5505 ASA firewall to create a static NAT to allow RDP 3389 access into our network from the outside.

My problem while in ASDM version 7.0 we choose configuration then NAT rules then click on Add but all we see is Add NAT rules before network object NAT rule, Add network object to NAT rule, and NAT rule after network object NAT rule.

I'm not sure why we see only the three options and no Static Nat rules.

Can anyone help to resolve this issue or explain what's going on.

Thank you

I'm not sure - think the Globalscape Gateway server needs to be removed or use another gateway .

I think you are Awesome and appreciate all your help you have given me to understand the ASA.

Can you recommend some training for the learning the ASA

Best regards, my friend

Hi,

Hopefully this could be resolved with the current setup. Though naturally my tools to help you are sometimes limited to guessing the possible reasons. But in this case it does seem that the connection attempt from "outside" stops at the actual first server because of one of the mentioned reasons.

You can always rate if you have found some of the information helpfull. Though I would prefer to actually solve the problem to warrant a rating for my replys

Sadly I cant really suggest any training as I said I have only gone to a couple of ASA courses that were pretty basic in nature.

Most of the things I know come from simply configuring Cisco firewalls for about 5 years now. One of my personal advantage to learning was/is working at a ISP which means there is no shortage of networking equipment and testing enviroments. It also means there are alot of customer enviroments that I run into and all have a bit different needs. Ofcourse these forums also play a role and that partly is the reason I participate here. Its one part of the learning expirience and getting more actual expirience and seeing what others do.

There are a lot of configuration guides and documentation online.

A must have for me is the "Configuration Guide" and "Command Reference" for each ASA software. You should be able Google using the mentioned terms and software number to easily find the documents. They are a good support when you are not exactly sure how to configure something or how some command behaves.
