Can't ping ASA and switch, but can ping server behind it

I have a Cisco ASA 5510, Cisco 3560 switch, and a couple of servers installed at a remote location.  I can't ping the ASA or 3560 switch, but I can ping the server behind it.  Why would this be and how can I fix this?

Hello Shawn,

From where are you trying to ping the ASA or Switch? From the outside-inside?

Is the Switch running on L2 mode only or also L3?

Just as a note the ASA will not allow you to ping a distant or far-end interface.

What is a distant or far-end interface?

Basically is that if you are on a PC on the outside interface you will be able to ping the outside interface IP address but no matter what you will not be able to ping the ASA interface IP address.
