Cisco ASA CLI changes made to config, what happens after power outage

IT-LDI

I have a question on our ASA 5510-X. If changes hve been made via CLI and for some reason a power outage occurs, how do I know if the startup config will load these changes. i notice that unlike a Cisco switch the copy running-config startup-config does not work the same. Is it safe to do the copy running-config startup-config command on an ASA?

I have performed a backup on the ASDM of our ASA. I just want to make sure the startup-config is good.

Thank you,

@IT-LDI run the command "write mem" from the ASA CLI to save the configuration. If the device reboots the ASA will load the last configuration from when the "write mem" command was issued.

Is is not only safe but a recommended way to have an up to date startup-config , so that then will be loaded (again (too) ) after an outage.

@IT-LDI when I say CLI I mean via either the console cable or using SSH to connect to the ASA. You can save the configuration in ASDM, which is the same as using "write mem" on the CLI.

When you say the ASA CLI are you meaning by the IP address of the ASA, or are you meaning a command within the ASDM?

Thank you,

I noticed when performing the copy startup-config running-config that it seems to process through some configurations. is this the normal outcome and I should just let it complete?
