Cisco PIX 501 PDM issues

I recently purchased a Cisco Pix 501, and have Pi

x 6.3(4) installed with Cisco PDM version 3.0(4).  Everytime that I try to access the PDM from the web

browser i get a certficate error.

I have the most recent version of Java installed.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I get this working?

Thank you

Hi,

If you accept the certificate error does your browser opens up PDM?

The browser will not recognize the certificate because it's self-generated by the PIX and not by a known public Certificate Authority (which most browsers already have).

If the above is the problem, you can import the certificate in the browser in the trusted site and should not get the error anymore.

Federico.

thanks for your reply.  How would i got about importing this certificate?

When you get the error, it should also give you an option to ''view certificate'' where you can install it under the trusted certificates for the
browser.

Federico.

Ok, i got the certificate installed, and now i just get a pop up with this window that says, The Cisco PIx device manager will start in another window.s  Closing this browser will limit the funcionality availiabe in the Cisco PDM.

Nothing else opens.

?

Ok... seems the certificate problem is solved.

Now... PDM should start.

You need to check you have a good java version (not necessarily the last) and PDM is properly configured in the PIX.

Could you perhaps try to access PDM from a different machine (might have a different java version) and make sure that PDM is configured correctly (maybe sharing the config)?

Also, make sure the PC has no firewall or anti-virus preventing the access.

Federico.

tried PDm on a different machine, no dice, disabled the windows firewall no dice, how would I make sure the PDM is configured correctly?

Hi,

Post show run output.

Regards.

Alain.

Don't forget to rate helpful posts.

After you have solved you Certificate problem  you will need a java version 1.5x to run the PDM.

PDM will not launch in Java versions 1.6 and newer.
