Hi Sir,
A simple question: Does the ASA 5540 support online insertion and removal (OIR) of the 4-Port Gigabit Ethernet Security Services Module (SSM-4GE)?
I can't seem to find this info on cisco.com. Please help.
Thank you.

No
You need turn ASA off before module insertion
Only SFP Gbics inserted to SSM-4G are hot-swappable

Hope that helps rate if it does

Hi,
Surprisingly, the "hw-mod mod 1 shut" command is not available on ASA version 7.2, but available on 7.0. However, the "reset" command is available.
Do you know why?
Thank you.
