Does FTD require access to internet for updates or will FMC do it?

Hi everyone, 

I couldn't find anything too definitive around whether or not FTD devices need access to internet and if so what specific URLs etc?  Do they support proxy?  

I'm assuming that if we're using FMC to manage everything, licensing and other updates will go through the FMC and not every device will need access to the internet but this is only an assumption until I can find some hard documentation.  Thank you in advance!

Hi,

The FMC initiates all the updates, these are pushed to the FTD's that the FMC manages. This link provides a list of sites the FMC communicates with for updates, licensing etc. You can configure a proxy if required

IF you Managing the FTD with FMC, FMC needs to have internet access (not FTD)

So FMC can push all the required updates from FMC
