Firepower running ASA OS: How to choose the OS that should get booted?

Hello everybody,

I have to upgrade a Firepower 2110 running an ASA OS from 9.12.4.37 to 9.18.1.

I went to the FXOS level and copied the OS to the flash:

de-nm-fw-ext-02/sec/act# connect fxos

firepower-2110# scope firmware

firepower-2110 /firmware # download image usbA:/cisco-asa-fp2k.9.18.1.SPA

firepower-2110 /firmware # show image
Name Type Version
--------------------------------------------- -------------------- -------
cisco-asa.9.10.1.37.csp CSP APP 9.10.1.37
cisco-asa.9.10.1.44.csp CSP APP 9.10.1.44
cisco-asa.9.10.1.csp CSP APP 9.10.1
cisco-asa.9.12.4.37.csp CSP APP 9.12.4.37
cisco-asa.9.18.1.csp CSP APP 9.18.1 <---
cisco-ftd.6.2.1.341.csp CSP APP 6.2.1.341

There is no command 'boot system' in the running ASA configuration
so I need to know how I can choose the OS that should get booted.

Is there an upgrade guide for this situation?

Thanks a lot for every hint!

Greetings,
R.

Hi Balaji,

thanks for the right guide!

So the OS that should get booted will be installed on the chassis manager:

de-nm-fw-ext-02/sec/act# connect fxos

firepower-2110# scope auto-install

firepower-2110# /firmware/auto-install # install security-pack version 9.18.1

Hope this procedure will run without issues.

Thanks a lot!
