FTD upgrade to 7.0.1 causing reboot loops

Hi,

We have tried to upgrade a coupple of FTD's from 6.6.4 to 7.0.1, both 5508-X and Firepower 1010 devices.

We noticed that some of the devices got stucked in a boot loop and we saw the following console output:

Reading from flash...

!!!...Waiting for MIO HB to mature

*** Output from config line 230, "failover"

.Dec 10 09:14:28 demafw1b port-manager: Alert: Ethernet1/8 link changed to UP

ABORT(-87): strcpy_s: source string too long for dest

core0: An internal error occurred.  Specifically, a programming assertion was

violated.  Copy the error message exactly as it appears, and get the

output of the show version command and the contents of the configuration

file.  Then call your technical support representative.

assertion "0" failed: file "constraint.c", line 87

After some research we found the following bug https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCvx26308

The FTD devices that failed the upgrade had a 33 character long SNMP string and the one that we were able to upgrade didn't.

A TAC case is already opened, but I thought I should give you a warning to first  check your SNMP community string if you plan to upgrade to 7.0.1. I am not sure if this bug affect 7.10 as well

TAC think that this bug is actually in 6.6.x and and not in 7.0.1 and according to bug condition this may happen during the upgrade when the device reboot. It might also be worth mention that bug is related to Lina Engine (ASA inside the FTD).
