I'm trying to upgrade the application image release from 3.3 to 3.4 and i get this failed message:

The image you are trying to upgrade is not a valid

Maintenance image or is not compatible with this release.

Upgrade with <ftp://admin@10.201.201.2/c6svc-nam.3-4-1a.bin.gz> failed (1)

This is the show version output:

root@NAM-CGD.lab.pt# show version

NAM application image version: 3.3(1-Patch-3)

Maintenance image version: 2.1(2)

NAM Daughter Card Micro code version: 1.31.1.27 (NAM)

BIOS Version: 4.0-Rel 6.0.9

Installed patches:

Thu May 19 13:41:17 2005 Patch: nam-app-patch.3-3-3-0 Description: Patch 3 for NAM release 3.3(1)

Any reason for this failure?

Thanks

This is because you first need to boot the NAM into Maintenance Partition, then do the upgarde. To boot the NAM into Maintenenace Image, you can run:

reset cf:1 -> CatOS

hw-module module reset cf:1 -> IOS

Once it come up, login using root/cisco (default login) and then proceed with the upgrade. See: http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat6000/mod_icn/nam/nam_3_4/swcfg/advcfg.htm for details
