I have to configure the pix firewall in fail over setup.
Pls I would like to know the answer for the following question.
1. Does pix firewall support load balancing along with redundancy (failover)

Hi swamy,
Nope.. the pix firewall doesnt support load balancing with redundancy now. Its only an active-standby setup. In pix v7.0, you can have an active-active setup, but still doesnt do load balancing of traffic. in active-active, the incoming and the outgoing traffic is splitted between the pixs, thus reducing the load on each pix.
hope this helps.. all the best...

The Pix version 7.0 does support load balancing.
I quote
"With Active/Active failover, both units can pass network traffic. This lets you configure load balancing on your network. Active/Active failover is only available on units running in multiple context mode."
