PIX not allowing NetBIOS resolution?

Howdy,

Just upgraded to v7.01 on a PIX 525UR. I'm running a Windows domain with two subnets, 10.0.40.0/26 (eth1) and 10.0.50.0/26 (eth2).

If I go into Windows Explorer and click on 'My Network Places' I am unable to see any of the other servers. I can ping these servers and manually map a drive, but seems like NetBIOS requests are being blocked even for servers that are on the same switch.

I only noticed this problem after upgrading to v7. No errors in Windows Event Log and nothing showing up in Syslog.

Anyone come across this with v7?

I think I found what it was...

v7 introduces a new inspect command (fixup on 6.3(4) and below) called inspect NETBIOS.

As soon as I removed this from the PIX I was able to see my servers under My Network Places.

Still not exactly sure why this occurs though. One thing I didn't mention was that the pix has two interfaces for internal traffic (10.0.40.0 & 10.0.50.0) with each port connecting to a different switch.
