If a organisation wants to connect to a service provider's mpls using a catalyst, how do you ensure end to end qos? I want to create seperate vlans for voice and data on the local loop, but how do i rate limit and allocate bandwidth to each vlan?

Hi Srini
Can you revert back on which model switch you are using over there ?

hi
first you have to agree with your ISP for a SLA(service level agreement), and go ahead and start configuring QOS on your network do separate trafic into different classes asign the policy to each class(the amount of bandwidth and the appropriate queue for voice give it cos of 5 or dscp of 46 , map the cos 5 or dscp 46 to queue the priority queue number 4 for example ) and apply the policy to the correct interface, for instance do classification on the egde as close as possible to the source of trafic with one policy ,and apply another policy at exit point toward the isp the last policy gives bandwidth and priority queue to voice for example.
do remeber the queues are diffirent from one catalyst to another (the qos is supported starting from 2950)

do rate if it does clarify
