I am trying to mainatain a 5505 firewall from my office Mac OSX, using the ASDM java application.
However, it refuses to run after I upgraded to the latest OSX version 10.10.1 (Yosemite)
When activating it the system says I need to get the Java Runtime Environment for Web Start-program.
I have installed the latest version ( version 8 from Oracle) but there is no change, I still get the same message.
Any suggestions how to solve this is appreciated.

Have you also tried the JDK instead of the JRE? And you should update the ASDM to a recent version like 7.3.1.101

I have installed both JDK and JRE and I don't know how to select between them since I open https:// and press the "Run ASDM". Then what happens happens.
My ASDM version is 6.4(5).
To upgrade, I need a support contract with cisco, which I don't have.

I am arranging a support contract now.

I had the same problem as the original poster, and installing JDK (version 8) solved the issue.
