I have added the line "telnet 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 outside" to my PIX 515e and I still cannot telnet to it from the outside. Do I also have to add an ACL entry for this? The permit IPSec command permits IPSec without having to add an ACL. Is the telnet command different?
Thanks,
Diego

The short, non-linked reply is "You cannot Telnet to the PIX from the outside, it is forbidden."
You CAN set up SSH (version 1) from the outside, but it's not recommended if it can be avoided. SSH ver 1 is still not too secure.
Good Luck

If you want to telnet to the outside interface of a pix, the only way
the pix software will allow you to do that is through an IPSec
connection.
As far as I have know, there is no other way to telnet to the outside interface.

I get the picture. I will try SSH. However, what then is "telnet 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 outside" good for? Do I need this with SSL?
