Cisco® Catalyst® 9000 switches provide the features/functionalities and performance required for modern day network infrastructure. To continue our journey of enabling all the modern-day use cases, the Catalyst 9300 Series adds new shorter depth platforms to the family which ranges from 11.8-13.2 inches in depth making them ideal fit for tight wiring cabinets, racks, or user spaces where depth of the switch is a concern. The shallower form factor enables a variety of use cases in industries like education, retail and small branch/remote offices or satellite offices etc.
The new Catalyst 9300LM models, part of the Catalyst 9300L Series switches, have been purpose built to solve space constraint challenges and help customers achieve growing business needs. The Catalyst 9300LM switches are powered by Cisco’s Unified Access Data Plane 2.0 (UADP 2.0) ASIC and run Modular IOS-XE software. Catalyst 9300LM models are available in Copper variants with fixed Uplinks of up to 25G speeds making it an ideal migration platform’s for our legacy Catalyst 3650 mini-series switches.
How were we able to achieve Shallow Depth?
To achieve shallower depth with enhanced performance and capabilities there were plenty of internal optimization accomplished from hardware design. Catalyst 9300LM models are designed with shallower power supplies/fan module as well as a new USB Type-A cradle to connect SSD to the front panel USB port. There are a lot of other internal hardware enhancement achieved to ensure powerful performance with shallow form factor.
These Catalyst 9300LM switches come with a new set of higher efficiency AC/DC modular power supplies with combination of mixed AC/DC power supplies supported on the same switch. The switches also come with a new set of stack kits which is backward compatible with our existing Catalyst 9300L switches.
Shallow but Proficient
Although Catalyst 9300LM models are much shallower in depth the switches enable the same uniform features, visibility, flexibility, and superior resiliency as our existing Catalyst 9300L switches. In terms of resiliency and high availability the switches support StackWise-320 architecture wherein a maximum of 8 switches can be connected in single stack to provide single pane of manageability and control. The switches also enable flexible design/deployment options by supporting mix stacking between Catalyst 9300L and Catalyst 9300LM models. Catalyst 9300LM models are in complete parity with our existing Catalyst 9300L switches in terms of features as well as scale.
