Cisco NDFC 12.0.2f: Enable L3 Gateway on Border -> In which cases is this feature necessary, only for L3Out?

This may be too late but the answer is, this feature configures the anycast gateway on the border gateway device.

Below is a sample snippet of the configuration generated:
