What's the proper way to pick the right NED for the device ? I have NCS42xx family (few boxes) and I need to install proper NED to handle them. I was not able to locate such an information in the generic documentation available for the NSO release which we have (5.7.3). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
A NED generally applies to a device operating system type. I believe the device OS for the NCS42xx is IOS-XR, and hence you will need an IOS -XR NED – either NETCONF or CLI.
According to the datasheet it runs IOS-XE. In that case the appropriate NED is the cisco-ios NED, IOS and IOS-XE are treated as one OS since they have practically identical management interfaces.
