Not working on Wifi devices

I have set up the OpenDNS on my router in the Broadband Connection (Ethernet).  I was under the impression that it would solve all my unsafe web search problems.  However, all wifi devices (ipads, etc) are still able to access sites I want to block.

Do I need to change something else?

Hello,

Confirm that you have done the following:

When using a router the computer or other devices DNS addresses should be set to the IP address of the router (typically a 192.x.x.x or 10.x.x.x number) as the devices are accessing the Internet through the router.

As the router is what each device is using to access the Internet the routers DNS address should be set to 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. This will ensure that any device that accesses the Internet through the router will receive OpenDNS content filtering and protection.

OK... 2 questions.  How do I do that AND do I have to do it individually on each device/machine?

If you configured in DHCP Scope DNS Option to send DNS as mentioned above entries that should be working for you.

When I input these values here.....

I get this error message....

twetzel2k_1-1757627615513.png

When I turn IPv4 Address Distrubution from DHCP Server to Disabled, my wifi devices still fail the test page.

DHCP option setup DNS server, not Scope

Hello,,

Have you configured the computer or other devices DNS addresses to be set to the IP address of the router (typically a 192.x.x.x or 10.x.x.x number)?

Can you walk me how to do that for an IPAD?  And then I will figure it out for everything else.  It automatically works for my desktop.

Hello,

To configure your iPad to work with OpenDNS, you will need to manually change the DNS settings for your Wi-Fi network. This process applies to individual Wi-Fi networks, and iOS does not allow for changing DNS settings on cellular data.

Follow these steps to set up OpenDNS on your iPad:

  1. Open Settings: Tap the "Settings" app icon on your iPad's home screen.
  2. Select Wi-Fi: Tap on "Wi-Fi" from the left-hand menu.
  3. Access Network Information: Tap the blue information icon (i) located next to the Wi-Fi network you are currently connected to.
  4. Configure DNS: Scroll down and tap on "Configure DNS".
  5. Change to Manual: By default, it's usually set to "Automatic". Change this to "Manual".
  6. Remove Existing DNS Servers: If there are any DNS servers already listed, tap the red minus (-) icon next to each one, then tap "Delete" to remove them.
  7. Add OpenDNS Servers:
    • Tap "Add Server".
    • Enter in the IP address of your router. If you are unsure as to what this is the routers web interface or documentation can provide this information.
  8. Save Changes: Tap "Save" in the top right corner of the screen to apply the new settings.
