OPEN DNS settings for all Wifi Networks on a device

Hi,

I am new to this hope you can all help, this may have been covered before. Does anyone know of a way or even an app that can force the opendns dns settings to be used on all wifi networks. This is what I mean.

My daughter has a tablet, I set the dns settings on her device to use the open dns settings, then we go to a hotel and I connect her to the wifi, this then uses the hotels dns. I can then add the opendns settings to her device when connected to the hotels wifi. any way to always use opendns for all wifi connections on a tablet ? no problem on a laptop as set on wireless device itself, tablets seem to be set on wireless connection. hope that makes sense.

The home versions of OpenDNS are for networks you own, not for your devices in other networks.  That said, if you have configured OpenDNS resolver addresses on your router, then all connected devices are covered.  For everything else you must look for different products or services.

Look, if you buy a car, you do not expect it to swim and fly too, do you?  Why do you expect OpenDNS Home to work outside your home then?

Wow take a chill pill..... I wasn't expecting opendns to do it... I was asking if anyone knows a way of doing this using the open dns dns settings. A no would have done.

These two sentences, "I wasn't expecting opendns to do it..." and "I was asking if anyone knows a way of doing this using the open dns dns settings", are in contradiction.  You can use OpenDNS settings only if OpenDNS does it for you, i.e. if you're using OpenDNS.

And no, a "no" would not really have done it.  It required some explanation, maybe not for you, but for other readers.  You're not alone here, and these threads should be good for common use.

And no, I don't need a chill pill, because I'm not agitated.  The doctor said that I'm fine.  But thanks for the recommendation.

Hi thanks for the explanation here. I have the exact same issue on needing to protect device outside of home network. Will amp for endpoints be a solution ?

This is pretty old now, but I was wondering if anyone has the solution?  (I'm using Windows 10). The swimming car guys seems to suggest that OpenDNS "Home" can't do this but ...  does this imply that there's an OpenDNS product that does provide this feature?

You‘ll subscribe to OpenDNS Prosumer if you want to use OpenDNS everywhere on your Windows or Mac computer.
