I have downloaded the DNS updater for my mac OSX version 10.9.5. When I right click on it to open nothing happens. I can go to content and see the package but there is nothing to install. If I scroll down to MacOS, then to OpenDNS Updater just a wind with text comes up...nothing to install. What gives?

This is a continuation of https://support.opendns.com/entries/97956928-seeing-no-filtering - thanks for opening a new on-topic thread.
There is nothing to install. It is already installed. You just need to run the program.

If your OSX is resistent, extract the downloaded ZIP archive into /Applications instead, so that it looks like this:
/Applications/OpenDNS Updater.app/Contents/MacOS/OpenDNS Updater

You previously said:
The package you downloaded should be an installer package as you expected. If it doesn't go through the installation when double-clicking it, then it's not installed and cannot do its job. Therefore your filtering cannot work too. You can manually update the IP address information at https://dashboard.opendns.com/settings/ though.
It is not going through the installation. I have moved it over to applications as well. So what you are saying is all I need to do is run it. So From this statement am I to assume it won't update the changing isp on its own and I must continue to run the program? If I can get it to run that is.

"You previously said:..."
Again, you didn't say that you have Mac OSX, but my statements have been about the Windows updater. The Mac OSX updater doesn't need to be "installed". You can just run it. And you can configure your computer to start it automatically at system startup or at login.
And yes, the program must run in order to keep your IP address information updated at OpenDNS, of course. There's nothing a program could do when it's not running.

OK, so if it is in my applications folder, are you saying it is running? HOW DO YOU RUN THE PROGRAM. How do you configure to start up at log in.

I see that you didn't find time to follow the links I posted. Also, this here is the OpenDNS forum, not a Mac OSX beginners forum. There are hundreds of Mac OSX forums around - make use of them!

I sensed your condescending tone on other responses throughout the forum, definitely prevalent here. Your link shows me where I can manually update the ip address. That was not my concern. The reason to get the updater IP address so you don't have to police the IP everyday to keep it updated. I'll search for answers elsewhere.

"I sensed your condescending tone on other responses throughout the forum, definitely prevalent here."
This is not nice and not appropriate, to say it diplomatically. And it is not acceptable.
"Your link shows me where I can manually update the ip address."
Again, I see confirmed that you didn't find time to follow the three links I posted. :(
They show totally different things than manually updating the IP address.
"I'll search for answers elsewhere."
Yep, that is what I meant by "this here is the OpenDNS forum, not a Mac OSX beginners forum", although the three links may have helped if you followed them.
And now I refrain from helping you here. It's not with much fun and pleasure...

Willie12345, look for the OpenDNS icon in your tray at the top right corner of the screen. It was easy for me to miss. When you attempt to install or launch the updater when it's already running, nothing happens, which is confusing. So maybe it's running and you don't realize it. (I'm not sure this will fix your problem of the content filter not working -- it didn't fix it for me. But at least I know I don't need to keep trying to install the updater).

Thanks Kduck. I did get the filter to work, but the ip keeps changing every day so I cant keep up with it. It would be nice to get the updater to work but it doesn't for me. Those links provided in previous response were just how to launch a app or program, which I know how to do. I don't think this is ever running because it isn't working. But to your credit...I do see the Open dns logo up at the top near the time...so thanks for that!! So evidently it is running...just not working..sigh.

When I click show status it does show this though, (Attatched) which doesn't come close to matching the currant ip address in my dashboard.

Actually, I just got this update from the OpenDNS Updater. I guess I'll look into that.

That screenshot is telling you the answer to your problem right there. You need to go into your dashboard, and set your network to dynamic. Without that OpenDNS believes that you have a static address and refuses all updates from this or any other updater. Once that is done you can click the Select Network button and choose your network. It might ask you for your OpenDNS login information at that point, but after that you can click the Update Now button, and IP address updates should be working from that point on.

It actually is Dynamic.

The Updater shows that there may be a mismatch between your DNS IP address and your web IP address.
Your DNS IP address: nslookup myip.opendns.com.
Your web IP address: http://myip.dnsomatic.com/
It is your DNS IP address which must be registered at https://dashboard.opendns.com/settings/ for your settings to take effect.
