How can I block roblox?  I need to block it, but not other games, so I am wondering what I need to put in the manage individual domains to block this game.   www.roblox.com does not block it.

It should block it, although roblox.com is the wider and therefore preferred entry, because it blocks all subdomains, not just the www subdomain.

You seem to have a general problem with your configuration. Therefore post the output of the following commands here:

nslookup -type=txt debug.opendns.com.

i'm trying to block ROBLOX as well. I added roblox.com and web.roblox.com to Web Content Filtering. However it did not block.

"I added roblox.com and web.roblox.com to Web Content Filtering."

As I said above already, this is not needed, roblox.com alone already covers this and all subdomains like web.roblox.com or .

"However it did not block."

It is cleary blocked by your settings.  This 67.215.65.131 is not the roblox.com IP address, but OpenDNS' (hit-block.opendns.com) showing that it is blocked by your blacklist.  If you think it is not blocked, then you most likely didn't flush your caches when your visited this site before.

I am trying to unblock roblox. Anyone know how?

You don't block it.  It seems you have one of Games, Business Services categories blocked.

If you insist to keep these categories blocked, then you must add at least roblox.com to your "never block" list.

You may need to add more domain names if they are actually blocked by your settings:
(You only need to whitelist what is actually listed as being blocked.)

See also for domains being used by Roblox.

To block the domain roblox.com, please add the domain to your "never allow" list.

To unblock the domain roblox.com, please add the domain to your "always allow" list.

Having the entire category for Games and Business Services blocked will also block access to the domain, but if the domain appears in the "always allow" list, then an exception is made.

If you can still access the domain after blocking, or if you cannot access the domain after allowing it, feel free to submit a ticket to OpenDNS support!

Good luck :)

roblox.com is not being blocked even though it is in my never allow list.  I submitted a ticket several days ago, but no one has responded.

You might want to follow up on your ticket and ask for an update. The free OpenDNS Home service is not guaranteed same day response so that might be the issue.

Is the rest of OpenDNS working properly for you? In other words blocking other domains that you want blocked? Is your current IP address properly registered for your account. If not, update it. Is IPv6 enabled on your router so that IPv6 traffic is being sent to the internet. If so, then disable it at the router. Have you flushed your DNS cache after adding this to your blacklist? If not, then do so.

Also post the output of the following two commands that rotblitz listed in his first reply to the original poster

nslookup -type=txt debug.opendns.com.

nslookup

Hi Matt, thanks for responding.  It appears that OpenDNS was recently bought by Cisco.  To answer some of your questions.  I did already ask for an update and I am a paying member.

No, the rest of my always block list appears to be not working, and I don't believe my custom selection for always block sites is working either.

I'm not sure if my address was correct so I deleted it and reset it.

I flushed my DNS cache with  ipconfig /flushdns

I'll have to review what IPv6 does before I get into my router.

nslookup -type=txt debug.opendns.com
I get the message saying my router can't find debug.opendns.com: Non-existent domain

nslookup www.roblox.com
Non-authoritative answer:
Name:

www.roblox.com
Address: 8.42.96.42

I have no idea what OpenDNS being purchased by Cicso would have anything to do with this.

If your block list is not working then that means your problem is larger than blocking just this one domain. It means that either your account is misconfigured in some manner, or that something is interfering with your traffic getting to OpenDNS.

Deleting your network was exactly the wrong thing to do. Depending on what OpenDNS plan you are using that means you will have to set everything up again. All that I said was to update the address, not delete anything.

IPv6 traffic is not filtered by OpenDNS, only IPv4. If it is in use by your router then it will account for OpenDNS not blocking the categories and domains that you want blocked. An increasing number of routers support IPv6, but many don't. Of those that support IPv6 most that I've encountered will allow you to disable it, which you need to do if you want OpenDNS to work properly for you.

Paraphrasing the results of the diagnostic commands is not what we need. We need to see the full and complete results from the commands in order for them to be of any use, or else rotblitz and I wouldn't have asked for them. Please run the commands again and paste the full and complete results here.

"I get the message saying my router can't find debug.opendns.com: Non-existent domain"

It's simple.  You do not send your DNS queries to OpenDNS, but to another DNS service.  Therefore your settings at OpenDNS cannot take effect.
You can verify this by visiting http://welcome.opendns.com/

Correct the configuration of the OpenDNS resolver addresses on the router to make it work.  If it still does not work, post the complete plain text output of the diagnostic nslookup commands here.  Depending on the outcome I may ask for more command outputs then.

Thanks rotblitz, that was my problem.  I reset my router a while back and did not update the DNS routing.  By default it does automatic DNS routing.  I disabled that and entered the opendns nameservers.  Now web filtering is working again.

Instead of www, block at the higher level domain. Try blocking all 3 domains below (without www)

roblox.com

rbxcdn.com

rbxtrk.com
