With using the DNS ip addresses for Family Shield, it states it's pre-configured to filter adult sites. But do I still need to configure the other categories as well?

If you choose to use Family Shield, there's no configuration required/available beyond entering the appropriate DNS server IPs.

You can configure other categories or domains to be blocked if you want, but you don't need to. Do it as you want.

rotblitz is correct. You can sign up for an OpenDNS account and choose to block additional categories by registering your IP address and installing a Dynamic IP Updater. That is not required to use FamilyShield. If you do so and continue to use the FamilyShield IP addresses, we will always block the combination of the pre-selected adult categories and any other categories you select.
