Can't get SFP-10G-SR to work

I recently purchased two SFP-10G-SR SFP+ modules and I can't seem to get them to work at all in my WS-C3650-PD48-S

I put the SFP into either 10 Gigabit port and I see this on the console: 

Jul  1 00:16:18.527: %PLATFORM_PM-6-MODULE_INSERTED: SFP module inserted with interface name Te1/1/4

But the interface never actually comes up. I don't get any additional messages in the log or the console (I had "logging console 7" set). I'm using a Cat6a cable. I see this when I do a "show interface TenGigabitEthernet 1/1/4"

I've tried both of my SFP modules in both of the 10GB ports and I also get the same result. Any idea's why this won't work? I've also tried doing what is suggested here

I've tried both my SFP's in both my switches, so I don't think it is a faulty switch or SFP. I've also tried multiple Ethernet cables.

How is that possible you were able to use a copper cable into an SFP+ port that will only accept fibre optic cable?

Are you saying that Cisco doesn't support Copper 10GB, only fiber?

My data center provider, only gives me copper connections. What would be the proper way to connect their uplink to the 10GB switch?

I have seen Fiberstore / non-Cisco SFP report as -SR from the device inventory despite being -T (copper). 

 

I recommend the command service unsupported-transceiver or determine if at the interface level the media type can be set i.e.

interface Te x/x/x

media-type RJ-45

If the interface does not come up at all, I lean toward it being a physical/cable issue more so than incompatibility. Cisco operating with non-compatible SFP may end up incrementing errors or causing i2c issues but it should not prevent the interface from initially coming up.
