We have Catalyst C9200L-24P-4X. I was swapping out an older switch for one of these. When I plugged a 1000base-SX SFP module in the system is reading it as a 10G LR module. We are running version 17.03.03. When doing a show inventory it does show the proper SN of the module.

Is the SFP a non-Cisco branded variety?

No, it is a Cisco Systems 30-1301-01 GLC-SX-MM

According to what was found on the Matrix the GLC-SX-MM is supported.

If you have a third party vendor SFP you can use the following hidden commands:
no errdisable detect cause gbic-invalid
service unsupported-transceiver

This is a Cisco Systems branded module.

Please post the complete output to the following command: sh idprom interface <SFP PORT>
Make sure the optic is in the port when entering the command (above).

Optics is made by Finisar and it is showing to be a GLC-SX-MM but the switch is saying it is a SFP-10G-LR.
This is a bug with the firmware. I recommend upgrading to 17.9.3.
04-26-2023 03:47 PM
I will do that and let you know the results.
04-27-2023 10:50 AM
Upgraded to 17.9.3 still have the same result.

Interesting results.
Do not bother raising a TAC Case. IF the TAC agent sees the optic is an end-of-support GLC-SX-MM the case would only be closed or terminated.
Try talking to your Cisco AM/SE but I doubt any good it will do.

- Have a test with this (advisory) release : https://software.cisco.com/download/home/286320046/type/282046477/release/Bengaluru-17.6.5

As soon as the cisco site allows me to actually download it, I will be testing that version.
