from the CTM FAQ:
Q. I cannot log in to CTM. I just installed Solaris, Oracle, and CTM, but when I launch the client and enter the username, I get the "EID-100: Fatal error: Cannot connect to EMS server. Check configuration and retry." error message. What should I do?
A. There are a variety of causes that can trigger this error message. Use these suggestions to correct this problem:
* Verify that you can ping the CTM server IP address from the CTM client.
* Verify that all of the server processes are running (Oracle, tnslistener, and CTMServer).
* Start the server in debug mode. As the root user, issue this command from a terminal console window on the CTM server: /opt/CiscoTransportManagerServer/bin/CTMServer -d . This command dumps information into the terminal console window and indicates the cause of the problem.
I hope this helps.
