Juniper SFP MM/MMD DOM compatibility

Apologies if this is far too simple a question for the community.

I am using GLC-SX-MMD SFPs from an ex4300 to the IDFs. I understand what DOM is and the the difference between MM/MMD however am curious and having trouble searching the answer to what application I'd be missing the DOM.

If I'm to run a simple "sh int diag optics" command, are these the "real time diags" I would be missing out on if only using MM vs MMD? If so, I have a few hundred SFPs I need to phase out.

Thanks in advance.

MM is old one - Cisco come with MMD ( as you mentioned with DOM capabilities)

Cisco new hardware like Cat 9K (as per i know never works MM - we need to have MMD here).

MMD is improved verson of MM.

Yes, that is what DOM is for.  Diagnostic Optical Monitoring.
