Recommended SFP for 1000base-LH upgrade to 10G

Hello

We're going to be upgrading a 1G fiber link to 10G. Currently the SFP type in both ends is 1000base-LH. What would be the equivalent 10G SFP required to upgrade and will the cabling itself be compatible?

Thanks

LB

currently, you are using:
1000BASE-LH which is 1310nm and uses Single Mode Fiber,
so for 10Gig you can use:
Cisco SFP-10G-LR
Cisco SFP-10G-LR-S

both are compatible with Cisco Nexus 9000 series and are using 1310nm and single mode fiber.

both these 10G pluggable are easy to obtain very generic :-)

Hi,

The SFP-10G-LR module should be the equivalent 10G module . https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/interfaces-modules/transceiver-modules/data_sheet_c78-455693.html?dtid=osscdc000283

Thanks

Thanks John. Just to confirm, SFP-10G-LR and not SFP-10G-LRM?

Also, to add to this...would the SFP-10G-SR be compatible? They seem to be a lot cheaper!

The existing cable between the two Nexus devices is a yellow single-mode cable.

whats the name of the equipment or the card which you going to upgrade.

The fiber link we're upgrading is between two Nexus 9ks

currently, you are using:
1000BASE-LH which is 1310nm and uses Single Mode Fiber,
so for 10Gig you can use:
Cisco SFP-10G-LR
Cisco SFP-10G-LR-S

both are compatible with Cisco Nexus 9000 series and are using 1310nm and single mode fiber.

Hi supoonia

Thanks for the info. Would the SFP-10G-LRM also be compatible? They seem to be much cheaper than the SFP-10G-LR or SFP-10G-LR-S and are also SMF 1310nm.

Cheers

Hi,
please find the 10G compatibility matrix.
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/interfaces_modules/transceiver_modules/compatibility/matrix/10GE_Tx_Matrix.html#_Toc510727797

SFP-10G-LRM is supported in Nexus 9000 series, the only limitation is its reach is very short, only 300m.
