7960 DNS unknown host

I have a lab with a static callamager that I am using for test purposes. I was able to get the ipsoftphone to register with the callmanager. When I plug a new 7960 phone it will kep trying to configur IP. I tried to manualy have a static ip for the phone but it will not allow it. I dont hava a DNS runing on this lab network. any idea that will help to get the phone to register with the callamanger.

Hi

You don't need DNS, although it's easier if you do configure it.... You can add this to the CM server and set it up quite easily. Let me know if you don't know how to do this and want to...

If you don't want to set up DNS, then do the following:

1) Ensure you've set up the option 150 on your DHCP scope:

2) Go in the CallManager admin pages, under System/Server, then find your server. If it has the server name in the Host Name/IP Address field change this to the IP.

3) Anywhere that uses URLs (like Enterprise Parameters which has URLs for help/services etc) change the hostname of the server to the IP (i.e. from http://cm/help to http://192.168.1.1/help
