AMIS can not work from Meridian message system to Unity

Hi all,

We setup the AMIS voice connector between Cisco Unity and Meridian Message system using VG200 as the gateway.

According to the document, now can leave a message from Unity to the Meridian system. So from Unity to he Merdian system is working fine.

But from Meridia leaving message to unity,it appears that the number we provide to the remote system is the same number as the Unity backdoor number and that somehow Unity can identify this call as AMIS (based upon signalling) and route this correctly.

Is this accurate?

Thanks

Joe Jia

I'm not real sure what you mean by backdoor number. The remote voice mail system calls a phone number that routes to the Cisco Unity server. This can just be the same number any caller would use to call the Unity server from outside. The first thing the remote voice mail system does when Unity plays the opening greeting is send a dtmf tone indicating it's an outside voice mail system that wants to initiate an AMIS transmission. This is the same thing that happens in reverse when the Unity server calls the remote voice mail system. As long as the Unity server is licensed for the AMIS feature, it can respond to a request from a remote voice mail system to perform an AMIS transmission on any voice port.

If you're interested in the details of how the AMIS transmissions work between the two systems, check out the following white paper: http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/voice/c_unity/whitpapr/amis.htm

It covers your question and alot more. Hope that helps.
