Are you using MGCP or H.323?

You will need to use MGCP.

Our test has a different router than yours and a lower CallManager version, but, using PRI Qsig protocol type Layer 3 bind and back-haul to Cisco CallManager via the 3745 gateway and ISGF switch type on the Nortel PBX.

The Cisco CallManager supports both “Network” and “User” side when switch type is set to primary Qsig, and the Nortel PBX with ISGF protocol also support both sides of protocol type.

CallManager with MGCP Gateway sends “Connected Name and Number" information in the connect message back to PBX. The Nortel also sends the Connected Name via the Facility message.

Key features supported:

Calling Number

Calling Name

Called/Connected Number

Called/Connected Name

Hardware Requirements

Cisco Hardware Cisco 3745 Gateway with 2MFT T1 Port

Cisco CallManager 3.3 (2)spB

Nortel Meridian Opt11C PBX.

Hardware: NTAK09BA, 1.5 Mb DTI/PRI

Software Requirements

IOS software releases “c3745-js-mz.122-15.T2”

PBX Software Release 25

Cisco CallManager 3.3 (2)spB

CallManager with H.323 Gateway does not send “Connected Name and Number" information in the connect message back to PBX. The Nortel sends the Connected Name via the Facility message, however, the gateway was not able to translate and pass the information to CCM.

Dan

It is MGCP Gateway

As you say;

CallManager sends "Calling Name and Number" information in the SETUP message to PBX.

But PBX returns folowing message;

"Invalid information element contents"

here is ISDN Q931 debug output;

*Mar 5 19:35:13.740: ISDN Se2/0:15 Q931: TX -> SETUP pd = 8 callref = 0x0001

Bearer Capability i = 0x8090A3

Standard = CCITT

Transer Capability = Speech

Transfer Mode = Circuit

Transfer Rate = 64 kbit/s

Channel ID i = 0xA9839F

Exclusive, Channel 31

Facility i = 0x9FAA06800100820100A115020101020100800D42756C656E74204B6172616361

Calling Party Number i = 0x0081, '6009'

Plan:Unknown, Type:Unknown

Called Party Number i = 0x80, '6881'

Plan:Unknown, Type:Unknown

*Mar 5 19:35:13.824: ISDN Se2/0:15 Q931: RX <- STATUS pd = 8 callref = 0x8001

Cause i = 0x81E4 - Invalid information element contents

Call State i = 0x06

Did you find the cause and solution to this issue ? Could you please share?

I'm trying to enable "calling name" in Cisco-Nortel integration and getting the same debug output.

Check, this thread is 8 years old.

If Cisco is sending calling name, as in th case above, you have to ask PBX technician why isn't displayed.
