Can ATA's be used in SMDI Voicemail integration with Call Manager

Would it be possible to use ATA 186 devices to be the analogue ports for integrating a legacy voicemail system to Call Manager. I understand that the SMDI interface will connect to the serial port on the CM, but on the configuration guides it only mentions the VG200/CAT 6000 blade as appropriate analogue gateways. Does anyone have this working with ATA's? If so are there any limitations/issues.

As far as I know, ATA can't be used as an replacement for a VG200/Cat 6000 blade, it is just an adapter and cannot work as a gateway. Anyway, I have found some SMDI Integration documents. Hope it helps.
