Hi,
we are testing a configuration in the lab.

We have a Cisco 2821 IOS version 12.4(24)T8. CME is version 7.1. We are trying to upgrade software on 7941 ipphone. The phone is trying to upgrade but then thers is a "Auth Fail" error message on the phone. Any idea? Below you can see some show commands.

Current software on 7941 ipphone is SCCP41.8.5.2S

In the partial config you have shown, it appears you dont have the required frimware files for the 7941 phone instead you have files for 7942 model. upload the firmware to flash enter tftp commands and try again.

Also the upgrade on phone is 8-5-2 so try to use the same firmware or if you are trying to go to a latest release do it in steps i.e upload to 9.0 then 9.2 and latest.

Hi Terry,

how can you tell it is for 7942? Shold be the right one, software on tftp server is 7941-7961-sccp.8-4-2S

Current load is SCCP41.8.5.2S and going to SCCP42.8-4-2S, am I doing a upgrade or downgrade here?? not sure about the format...but in this case it does not matter..I just want to find a working config for the upgrade!

I have downloaded CME files for cme 7.1, I guess this is the newest one I can use for this version, correct?

Thanks,

Mattias

tftp-server flash:dsp41.9-4-2TH1-1.sbn
tftp-server flash:jar41sccp.9-4-2TH1-1.sbn
tftp-server flash:SCCP41.9-4-2-1S.loads
tftp-server flash:term41.default.loads

Hi Terry,

haha, now I see what you mean ;-) I gave you the correct answer!

Good one :). Every time you download the firmware make sure you download the files for that specific phone model and you should be good. :)

See you around.
