I have a 7940 connected to an HP Procurve and a PC connected to the phone. I can't get the phone and the pc to get addresses on separate VLANs. They both get addresses but on the same VLAN. The procurve is a 4000M. Anyone know if what I am trying to do is possible?

I am assuming that the PC is plugged into the 7940? If so, you will not be able to get the pc and phone on different subnets. As far as I know Cisco switches are the only ones to support the voice VLAN and data vlan per port.
They only wa to get this to work is to separate the PC from the phone and use another port off the PRocurve. Put the phone in one VLAN and the PC in another.

Hi there!
I tried out the same configuration with a 3Com SuperStack Switch 4400. I connected the 3Com Switch and the phone in the following manner:
<
Before I connected in such a way, the phone was directly connected to the Cisco 3524. After I put the 3Com Switch in the middle it worked still perfect, even after a reboot of the phone. So, as I assume, that the voice vlan information is transmitted by a cdp message, it seems to me enough to add a Cisco Switch to your LAN. In any case, you should preferably use Cisco switches to get full functionality and traffic prio in your network. Hope this helps!

So, what is the config on the 3524 port that is connected to the 3Com? Is it just set up as a dot1q trunk? Is the port on the 3524 linking to the 3Com a different port than the one the phone was originally plugged into?
Is the port on the 3Com that the phone is plugged into just configured for the 2 vlans or is it just set up as a trunk? On that port, which vlans are tagged/untagged?
Thanks.
