This a collection of descriptions I compiled while working on some system build templates and etc.
Database Services | |
ConnectionDB | Enables the CUC DB. |
Connection Server Role Manager | Enables the server status when a CUC cluster is configured. |
Connection Serviceability | Enables CUC Serviceability interface. |
Critical Services | |
Connection Conversation Manager | Enables CUC to handle calls. Disabling this service degrades CUC functionality. |
Connection Message Transfer Agent | Enables delivery of messages to the message store. Disabling this service degrades CUC functionality. |
Connection Mixer | Enables the audio (media stream) for calls, recorded messages, and TTS. Disabling this service degrades CUC functionality. |
Connection Notifier | Enables notification of messages (turn on/off MWI). Disabling this service degrades CUC functionality. |

Connection Administration | Enables CU Admin interface. |
Connection DB Event Publisher | Enables notifying CUC components of DB changes. |
Connection License Server | Enables CUC licensing by reading the license files installed on the system. |
Connection SNMP Agent | Enables SNMP which uses the Cisco-Unity-MIB. |
Optional Services | |
Connection Access Layer | Enables sharing of user data between CUC and other servers by using Cisco Unity Access Layer (CUAL). This is an HTTP/SOAP web service which can be used, for example, by Digital Networking with Unity. |
Connection CM Database Event Listener | Enables detection of changes in the CUCM DB. |
Connection Database Proxy | Enables DB replication for CUC clusters. |
Connection Digital Networking Replication Agent | Enables replication of data between CUC servers in Digital Networking. |
Connection File Syncer | Enables replication of files for CUC clusters. |
Connection Groupware Caching Service | Enables CUC to cache calendar data (from Exchange, MP, and MPE) and to cache Exchange contadcts. |
Connection IMAP Server | Enables access to CUC via IMAP. |
Connection Inbox RSS Feed | Enables RSS feeds for checking voicemail from RSS clients. |
Connection Integrated Mailbox Configuration | Enables sharing of data between CUC and CUCM. |
Connection Message Event Service | Enabes access to voice message data on CUC by CUMA. |
Connection Personal Communication Assistant | Enables the Cisco PCA interface. |
Connection Realtime Monitoring API's | Enables access to data on CUC via RTMT. |
Connection Reports Data Harvester | Enables conversion of data in log files to entries in the reports DB. |
Connection SMTP Server | Enables access to data on Connection via SMTP server. |
Connection System Agent | Enables schedules for system tasks such as resynchronizing MWI's. |
Connection Voice Mail Web Service | Enables access to data on Connection through Voicemail Web Service (VMWS) by Cisco UC Widgets such as Visual Voicemail. |
Connection Voice Recognition Transport | Enables generation and placement of dynamic grammars that are used by the speech-rec engine for the voice user interface (VUI). |
Connection Voice Recognizer | This is the speech-rec engine that enables voice recognition for the VUI. |
