Differences between simultaneous calls and call per second

To understand better the voice gateway performance impact I would understand better what Cisco mean for these two parameter.

It's not clear to me which of the two Cisco mean as the max call sustainable by a voice gateway.

I feel that the calls per second is nothing but the call rate ie the number of calls that can be handled by the gateway per second.And simultneous calls are the ones which are the calls being routed at the same time( need not be a second).
