I have a customer who has old Polycomm gear and wants to use this over IP. The idea is to connect the ISDN BRI's to the Cisco 3640 to place a call across the network to the other 3640 establishing a videoconference. Has anyone ever done this? From what I have read it seems possible and should work. Please offer any help that you can.

Your set-up will not work. The 3640 has BRI interfaces available but it is NOT an H.320 to H.323 gateway. Nor can the 3640 provide "user-side" signalling to power the BRI interfaces on the Polycom. My understanding is that ALL Polycom Viewstations are at least H.323 ready. You should be able to upgrade the Polycom code and have that device perform H.323 natively allowing you to span your 3640s as simply IP traffic.

Try Cisco's IP/VC 3530 Video Terminal Adapter (VTA)
