Hello

For conversion for your video library , ok you can do it by the below

1- You can use Cisco converter (like AS5510 or 7710) for convert from digital to IP or you can a specific tools for Video conversion from analogue to digital by studio or some thing like that , pleae identify your resources.

2- Your design will be ( live cam - enconder - WOWZA server or adobe flash server - ECDS -DMP).

3- IPTV (Headend -DCM9900 like encoder alseo- Multicast network - DMP) .

Hello

Hello

ECDS , is a system which consists of service routers , service engines ,etc . When user sends a request for video the service router will be responsibe with integration (DNS) will hendle the requests from user after that will send these requests to service engines and so  on  , for more details . Please find the below links which will help

hello

For IPTV , IPTV multicast based . Your solution will based on end to end  as below

1- DCM which will act as encoders.

2- for HD or SD you will use other encoders ( AS 5510 , As 7710)

3- You have to enable Multicast .

4-Use DMP or STB to receive channels.

hello

redundancy is so important , because if for example DMM is failure for SNS (SNS will be down ) , You have to use redundancy to avoid failure.

Hello,
Normally the most popular mode that's used in multicast is 'sparse mode' It is used because its far more efficient than dense mode and sparse-dense mode.

But for sparse mode you need a rendezvous point. All your multicast traffic will be pulled instead of pushed.

I'm not sure how the multicast is set up on IPTV, do you normally specify the multicast group address and the RP?

This also means you need to set 'ip pim sparse-mode' command under every single interface on the routers in your network, even vlan interfaces that the multicast traffic needs to traverse.

And you will also need to define 'ip pim RP-address x.x.x.x' on all your routed hops (your routers)

All your switches will need to support IGMP, if they are Cisco switches, it is enabled by default.

If its your first time with multicast, and you want to know a bit more about it, go to YouTube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvbSMBKBZgY
Or
http://stormwind.com/category/multicast

And watch the episodes. It's very good for beginners and it helped me a lot!!

It's funny because I'm also working on IPTV solution too :-)

Hope this helps

Hello

very helpfull , we need your help mr/bilal as you one of the expert for routing . Kindly be informed for me we use SSM multicast , for multicast implementation please answer the below questions:-

1- Do you have a WAN connection?.

2- Do you have mpls between your sites?.

Thank you

please rate if this will help

View solution in original post

Hello

if you have a MPLS connection , kindly be informed your configuration will be as the below

1- Multicast over MPLs.

2- Enable multicast for your switches which will connect to your switches.

For SSM multicast :

P2MP = SSM trees

Build trees from any individual source.

Inject everywhere, receive everywhere

-Best join/prune latencies

Q. What is Source Specific Multicast?

A. Source Specific Multicast (SSM) is an extension of IP multicast where datagram traffic is forwarded to receivers from only those multicast sources to which the receivers have explicitly joined. For multicast groups configured for SSM, only source-specific multicast distribution trees (no shared trees) are created.

Q. Should I use PIM Sparse-Mode or Dense-Mode?

A. Cisco recommends PIM Sparse-Mode (PIM-SM). Cisco also recommends PIM-SSM for one-to-many applications and Bidirectional PIM (bidir-PIM) for many-to-many applications.

Dear

You are very welcome , kindly send to me your requirements.

Thank you

Thanks Kamal , i will prepare the requirements and shqre it with you.

Jack,

Let us know what you need and we can help you.

You will need a DMM server besides the SnS server.  This is used to manage the SnS users and integrate with Active Directory.

The best release for a new SnS with CAST is 5.3.5

Also how do you plan to get the TV signal to CAST (IPTV replacement)?

There is a lot of information here
