Import CCM database

We have an existing 4.0 Installation with around 100 phones. We have recently procured a new CCM 4.1 and would like to use this as the primary before we reformat the existing server and upgrade to 4.1.

What would be the best way to import the database from 4.0 to 4.1? Can we do it with BARS?

Old databases can't be directly imported into newer versions of CallManager. To replace your publisher server, install CallManager 4.0 on that server, use BARS to restore your data and then upgrade it to CallManager 4.1. Once finished, you can place that server in production.

If you didnt buy new servers, you can actually get from 4.0 to 4.1 without to much hassle. You can upgrade from 4.0.1 -> 4.0.2a -> 4.1.2 -> 4.1.3 all with downloads. One word of caution. If you want to upgrade the subs, you will need to upgrade the subs right after the pub.

IE upgrade pub to 4.0.2 then subs to 4.0.2

then upgrade pub to 4.1.2 then subs to 4.1.2 etc.
