IP Phone 7940 doesn't bootup properly

One of my 7940 used to be working properly until recently when I rebooted it, it doesn't bootup properly. When I connect the UTP cable to it, there is light on the headset light for a sec and the cisco screen appears. However after 2 sec, the screen goes off and the phone resets by itself on and on again. I've tried deleting the phone setting in the CCM and recreating it but that couldn't solve the problem.

I'm using CCM3.1, what should I do?

try to set up older firmware for this phone on ccm.

Hi Martin,

I tried fixing the phone load to "P00303020204" under phone configuration for that phone but problem persists. "P00303020204" is the working firmware on other phones. My CCM version is 3.2(2.4).

Maybe I've used a wrong method to download the firmware. Kindly advise.

if P00303020204 is working firmware on other phones, do not use this formware on phone which expierence problems. Try to use older firmware. Look at tftp folder on ccm and you will see older firmwares like P00303020203 or P00303020202 or P00303020201. I do not know what older firmwares exactly ccm3.2 offer.

If you find some older firmware configure it under phone configuration page.

Hi Martin,

I tried the other two firmwares in the tftppath folder which are P00303010107 and P00303010102 but both failed to solve the problem. I suppose these two are firmwares for CCM3.1 as the current CCM3.2 was upgraded from CCM3.1. I can't find any other firmware besides these.

Are there any ways to download some older firmwares for CCM3.2?

Formwares P00303010107 and P00303010102 are for ccm3.1, they will not help you.

Anyway, you can download cmterm-7940-7960.P003-3-2-7.exe from software center with firmware P00303020700. If the phone does not have hw problems then new firmware load (older or newer) should help resolve your problem. IF it does not, then rma this phone.
