Jabber 12.6 Phone only mode client question

Ok Guys, trying to implement Jabber 12.6 specifically (because of the new integrated dial pad) in PHONE ONLY mode and one serious pain point for our organization is that in the client itself, next to the search bar is a button with a "+" sign on it which is used to start a chat with a user. Obviously, we only want phone mode as we have Skype for IM and this button will cause confusion for sure. Any ideas if there are any manipulations to the client or MSI file that would remove this button?

Phone only mode has been replaced with Phone mode for Contacts - implementation steps can be found here:
