I have a customer that is wanting to deploy a "hoot n holler" application for a hotline.

My question is, does anyone know how I can place a Meet Me conference in a permanant up state?

A Meet-me Conference conference has to be initiated first and then people can join in. So, if you want to have a Meet-me conference to go on forever, you will have to initiate it from a phone and leave it like that.

With Cisco Meeting place you can do that.

Yeah - Cisco Meeting Place can do it, but I dont think he wants that. For that he will have to get the entire package.

A good alternate to Meet Me conference is to use MConference. Mconference allows user to intiate a conference bridge from the phone and it will remain up as long as you don't reset the Tomcat server. Users can join and leave the conference as often as they want. Just keep in mind that this is multicast traffic and your network should be able to handle multicast.

What is MConference? It it a third party Application? Where do I find more information on this product?

Thanks

MConference is a sample application which allows users to create, join, and control IP multicast conferences from an XML phone service. It's a good example of the power of XML services and IP multicast - providing a large-scale (thousands of

participants), arbitrated conference using a simple web application. Conference arbitration can be enabled/disabled by the conference owner. When arbitration is enabled participants must request permission which is then granted by the conference owner. When conference arbitration is disabled, participants can simply push-to-talk, similar to a hoot-and-holler network.

This application is included with the Cisco IP Phone Services SDK Kit.
