Number of voice BRI ports can be supported in 2851 or 3825

Four HWIC can support four VIC2-2BRI-NT/TE modules which totally have 8 ports. If more voice BRI ports need to be added on the same chassis 2851 or 3825, then two NM-HD-2V modules or EVM-HD-8FXS/DID with EM-4BRI-NT/TE can be added as well. Thus what is the max. number of voice BRI ports can be supported in 2851 or 3825?

If using 2851, you have one NM slot and one EVM slot. Using NM-HD-2V you can add upto 4 ports, using EVM and using the EM modules you can add upto 8 ports. So a total of 12 BRI ports using NM and EVM and 8 BRI ports on native HWIC slots = 20 BRI ports (I would not think that you could push the 2851 to this limit).

On a 3825, there is no EVM slot. So you have two NM slots which gives you 8 ports and Native HWIC slots will give you 8, so total = 16 ports.

Also on the 3825 an EVM can be used on the NM slot (One per 3825 or Two per 3845). So if you use a combination of EVM and NM the numbers change as follows

8 ports on EVM on one NM slot of 3825

8 ports on HWIC slots of 3825

4 ports on NM slot of 3825 with NM-HD-2V.

Total = 20.

I would think you cannot realistically use these many ports on the specified platforms due to DSP and hardware limitations.
