Phone Template

Is there ANY way to apply a phone template like the ones used in BAT to the Autoregistered phones. I think this would be a new feature request.

Or what would be even better, would to be able to apply a template to a phone After it autoregisters. For example. I plug a phone in for a new person Bob Smith. It AutoRegisters to a DN that is not real (for security reasons). I then have to come back and change the name, DN, VM forward information and other little pieces of info. It would be great to be able to "Apply" a template just like the ones BAT uses, it could prompt for the user's name, DN, and UID, then switch the phone over. What would be even better would be an option when Applying the template for it to search a pre-defined range of DN and choose the next DN that is not assigned to any device!

TAPS (Tool for Auto Registered Phones Support) is want you want, and has been out for as long as BAT but not very well known. It is a VERY cool provisioning tool, and included with CallManager (no extra charge). What you do - 1) Create your phones in BAT using dummy MAC addresses. 2) Plug in phones and let them auto-reg to a fictitious extension range 3) Call the TAPS route point from the auto-reg phone and you will be prompted to enter the extension of the phone (what it should be), repeat. The auto-reg phone is deleted, the phone is associated with the BAT profile, and the user (if you also added in BAT) is associated with the phone. Clean. Search CCO for "BAT TAPS". I believe instructions for TAPS are in with the BAT administration guide.

Well sort of. First I have tried unsucessfully to get TAPS working. Right now my CTI route point just show status Not Found.

But lets say I have no clue at the time I add 20 phones who will be using the,.. Then 5 months down the road I want to assign it to Bob Smith. The BAT, Taps will need to plug in things like Description, Name User Id and so forth. All of this I would not know until the person arrives. On our old Avaya system we had a duplicate station function. You could setup a template station, then duplate it for your next one. That would be handy.

If you've gone through the TAPS installation and configuration in appadmin, make sure that the TAPS service is running in Windows Services Control. By default the service is set to manual start.

I am getting the following error:

53: Oct 10 12:50:36.697 MDT %MIVR-SS_TEL-3-UNABLE_REGISTER_CTIPORT:Unable to register CTI Port: CTI Port=3001,Exception=com.cisco.jtapi.InvalidArgumentExceptionImpl: Address 3001 is not in provider's domain.

I see the same thing on the CTI Routepoint

Oops I forgot that I deleted the CTI route points and re-created them, I went back in and gave the JTAPI user an association for the route points and ports.

Ok now taps will work great for the mass install. However when I want to register a phone after the fact.. Would there be a way to get BAT to accecpt and insert of a phone from the web page WITHOUT the CSV file. In otherwords I want to plug in the phone DN, the User First and Last name, the Display name, and the Internal Caller ID name, Select the template and insert.

If BAT could have a second page with a entry form that would be great.
