RSS Freezes...

Hi all,

We are running DMS 5.2.2 and our dmps are the 4400 model.

We have noticed that the RSS scrolling message freezes during out the day at random time.

To troubleshoot this, we are using an internal RSS and an external RSS feed. BOth of them freeze.

Has anyone encountered this as well? Is this a bug?

Thank you

Hi Panayiotis,

What exactly you mean with "freezing"? Is the RSS stopping to scroll completely, or it stops and restart intermittently, or just get slower?

Which other content are you displaying on the DMP together with the RSS? We have seen cases where the DMP was ending up in low memory conditions because of some components being outside of best practices, and this was consequently affecting RSS display. Please make sure that all the components of the presentation you are using together with the RSS are inside the guidelines documented at:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/video/digital_media_systems/5_x/5_2/dmd/best/practices/guidelines.html

When the problem occurs, is only RSS affected or also other components of your presentation?

If you run just the RSS alone on the DMP, does this issue occur as well?

It is likely better to have a Service Request opened to investigate this more in depth if you are not able to sort this out with the above suggestions.

Thanks,

Marco

Hello Marco,

Thanks for answering!

The symptom of "freezing"  is that the RSS scroll message stops scrolling and remains hunged until the DMP is rebooted.

The rest of the content is not affected. Also, the presentation has: an image slideshow, an iptv section and the RSS scroll message area.

Do you believe that this is a "heavy" presentation?

I will run the test just for the RSS and  i will come back

If, this test fails as well we will contact TAC
