I am trying to install a Unity Server 2.46(102) on a Windows 2K server, after I click the setup and LDAP port(2020),US, then I got a message saying: The installation is not complete. You should run this setup procedure again in its entirety.<br><br>Anybody could tell me what's the proper steps ? Thanks,<br>Richard<br><br>

Make sure you have your box configured correctly. The Win2K install instructions are found in the README.HTM file under the \documentation directory on CD #1 of your disk set (or where ever you downloaded the image to if you got it off CCO).

Try running SysCheckPreinstall.exe also on CD #1 or wherever you downloaded it. Unity setup calls this same application in the background to check and make sure all the rights/permissions are there that we need. It should throw up a proper error message if one of these checks fails but perhaps not. You can see which checks are run individually when you run it manually.

Also, make sure if you downloaded the image that your path to the setup doesn't contain any spaces (this is a known bug that fixed in the next release of 2.4.6 coming out). That could cause the syscheck run to fail which will cause the Unity setup to bail out on you.

I have run the Syscheck utility, and got no error, but still I got the same message when tried to load it again. I have configured the Win2K server according to the Readme.htm in the CD. Any idea what happens ?
I got 3 CDs when I attended the Unity training, which is the demo version.

Any hints are appreciated. Thanks,
Richard

There is no "demo version" of Unity, there's only one version. If there's no security key found on the system then Unity installs and runs in a demo mode which limits the number of ports and the number of users that can be configured on the system.

If you run setup off CD #1 directly and you still get this error, I'm not sure what's happening (assuming these are badly copied CDs... we've seen that one a number of times with folks duping their own CDs in the field and hosing it up). There's no error message at all, it just kicks up the "setup is not complete" message?

When I run the syscheck under CD1\\Syscheckpreinstall\NOR\, it says check complete, I checked the log which say "passed' to all those checked items. Then, I rerun the setup again, I was allowed to choose 'US', LDAP:2015, then it says: The installation in not complete. You should run this procedure again in its entirety. Then, I have click "Finish" because there is no another option. Do you know why ? Thanks.

Sounds like you're installing on a non English Windows install? This can get pretty hairy with the combinations of Windows languages and Unity install languages at times, there could be a bug in there.

Any chance you can install on a US version of Windows with that disk set as a test?

It is a US Enlish Windows2K server. When I run the setup, I got a language choice, then I selected US English. Then, I was prompted to enter the LDAP port number (I put 2015 since I got this on my Exchange Server), then after a few seconds I got that message.

Then why were you running the NOR version of Syscheck? There should be an ENU version.

Thanks Jeff,

It's now working, because the files in ENU folder are all missing, that's why it did not work.

There is no SysCheck under ENU folder, however, I have tried all SysCheck under Enz/Eso/Fra/Nld/Nor, they all passed without any error. The strange thing is that there is no SysCheck file under ENU folder.

Hi Jeff,

Do you know If I need to run the UnityDemoRegistryChange.reg file before load the Unity application ? I have seen this in the Readme.htm file, however, I could not find this reg file in the 1st CD as described in Readme. Do you have an idea ?

No, you don't. That's unrelated having to do with setting up a dual switch demo with one port on the pbx and one port on CM.

Honest, this really does just install. Hundreds of systems have been installed like this, you really don't have to do anything special.

find the TEMPU.LOG file after the setup fails and look at the bottom... this is the log file created by setup, perhaps it might give us a clue as to what is wrong with your configuration.
