What is the proper method of creating a backdoor extension for users to call in and log into their voicemail?
Also, what step do I use to configure an auto-attendant script to accept a sign-in similar to Unity?

Users can call in using the pilot number (the same number that calls forward when busy/no answer) and then press * and enter their password (or just enter their password if they're calling from their own phone). If the pilot number is a number that is reachable from the PSTN, they can call that; or they can dial their own number and press * when it rolls to voicemail.
You cannot create a script that authenticates using the same credentials as voicemail. You can create a script that will ask for and take a password, but this won't be querying the same information in voicemail (i.e. if the voicemail password changes, this AA password would not).
